Sandra was part of the Pendlebury Library when I was an undergraduate in the late 1970s, and it was a huge pleasure to find her still there when I returned as a University Teaching Officer in 2001. Her retirement a few years later left a huge gap, though her presence in the Library is palpable, not least in the thousands of books whose shelf mark is pencilled in in her distinctive handwriting. It is wonderful to have known her for so long, and I very much regret her too-early death.
